Marquisha Dawson –Young
Director of Community Involvement and Personal Development

She attended Cheyney University where she studied fashion and communications. She graduated from Peirce College of Philadelphia with a degree in Marketing and Business Management and is currently enrolled at Wilmington University studying behavior science with a concentration in Sociology. In a chance Encounter at a women’s fellowship, she shared her personal testimony and meant a woman who forever changed her life. The continuous guidance, encouragement, and motivation that woman gave Marquisha helped her to realize and accept her purpose in life. Marquisha was most influenced when this woman she looked up to so much would always tell her ”Marquisha , your voice will Change the World one day, you just have to believe.”
Now, Marquisha has fully committed her life to the professional, spiritual, and academic success of today’s youth. She is an active and proud member of both The Wilmington Lupus Chapter and “BOLD” Black Organization for Leadership Development. A Minister of the Gospels of Jesus Christ, Marquisha strong belief in the blessings of God allow her the faith to continue in her pursuit to Change the World.  In 2009, Marquisha founded SOULZ Inc Mentor and Empowerment Services, which is a non-profit organization. SOULZ Inc is an organization whose main focus is to embrace the importance of self-love, self-respect, and self-worth. This helped Marquisha in being an advocate for women’s empowerment, and in 2012, she became a motivational speaker whose main goal was to empower women and young adults to take charge of their life by setting and accomplishing their goals.
Marquisha plans to one day become the owner of a full-service wellness center that will provide support and resources for a healthy lifestyle. She wants to dedicate the rest of her life to creating and introducing opportunities and resources to women of all ages. She is also in the process of writing a book, which will highlight the need for mentorship in the African American communities by successful, dedicated African Americans.
As a Community Service Activist, Marquisha and her non-profit organization SOULZ Inc, donated over fifty coats to men and women’s shelters in the city of Wilmington, De. This year, the organization will begin a new project, “The SOUL FOOD Campaign”, which will feed three families each month for 6 months in the Wilmington, DE area.
Marquisha once stated “I am so grateful for a wonderful husband of twelve years who never lets me forget my cause and my three beautiful children who remind me every day of why I was chosen for this task. God has also blessed me with an amazing grandson who makes me smile. I am living the life I pray others will live. I am emotionally, professionally and spiritually sound! I can attest to the importance of mentorship, positive-thinking, and sisterhood, it changed my life. I am committed to making a CHANGE! This is my LEGACY!

Her favorite quote is “The expectation you set for others must first be achieved by you”
